       Nanofibers by electrospinning: Electrospinning has been projected as a method of choice for the future materials based on electroactive nanofibers. These nanofibers are considered to be the materials which will solve some of the crucial problems in the field of environment, energy and military (gas sensing for chemical and biological warfare agents) applications. The conducting polymers have been shown to be the best materials for gas sensing. The only bottleneck in this area is the availability of the soluble conducting polymers wherein the properties can be fine tuned with ease. Our materials fulfill these criteria?s of solubility and easy fine tuning of the final structures and hence are of importance for these applications.
       The IIT Bombay team is focussing on the following types of devices in the Nanotechnology centre:
                   * Nanometer sized spheres of conducting polymers as building blocks for integrated circuits.
                   * Conducting polymer junctions, their device characteristics
                   * Actuators as sensors, valves and pumps based on conducting polymers and ceramic oxides.
                   * Organic LEDs.
                   * Conducting polymer based nanoelectronics, nanofibres and electronic nose
